Under Armour hosting tryouts
Under Armour will be hosting an open tryout for high school baseball players in Hawai‘i. Top players from the tryout may be selected for one of the following events: Under Armour Southwest Tournament, Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament or the USA Baseball 16 Under championships.
The event, powered by Baseball Factory, will take place in Honolulu on Sunday at Central O‘ahu Regional Park at 1 p.m. All baseball players ages 13 to 18 years old are encouraged to attend.
Last year, players from Hawai‘i turned out to compete in front of Baseball Factory staff including ‘Aiea native Randy Castillo.
The 6-foot-2 right-handed pitcher, who graduated this past May, caught the attention of scouts with his 94-miles-per-hour fastball. Castillo went on to be drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 31st round of the 2008 Major League Draft.
