Playing in nonstop rain, the Kaua‘i High School girls junior varsity soccer team defeated the girls of Kapa‘a High School 3-1 yesterday at Vidinha Stadium.
Kapa‘a’s Kately Kaona was in the right place at the right time. When the ball ricocheted off Kaua‘i’s goalie, Kaona was quick on the reflexes to score the first goal of the match. Kapa‘a was ahead 1-0 at the half.
Kaua‘i then scored three unanswered goals in the second from Audrey Lang, Daeja Cummings and Kelsey Cadiente for the win.

Kaua‘i’s and Kapa‘a’s boys junior varsity teams were tied 1-1 at the half and finished at 1-1 yesterday. Kaua‘i’s Mason Vegas and Kapa‘a’s James Goode scored the game’s goals.
