Ernest ‘Casey’ Moniz
Ernest “Casey” Moniz of Kalaheo died on Dec. 20, 2008, at the age of 86.
Born on Oct. 11, 1922, on Kaua‘i, he was a retired police lieutenent for the Kauai Police Department.
He was preceded in death by parents William and Virginia Moniz; sisters Isabella Cabral, Dorothy Bades, Elizabeth Sorge, Virginia Himenes; brothers William, Manuel, Gilbert Moniz.
He is survived by wife Virginia “Lorraine” Moniz; sisters Daisy Costa and Mabel Manoi; daughter Antonia Moniz; sons Ernest (Joanne) Moniz Jr., John (Faith) Moniz, Stacy (Bonny) Moniz; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, at Holy Cross Church; Mass at 10 a.m. with burial to follow. Casual attire is suggested.

Eiko Muranaka
Eiko Senda Muranaka died Dec. 16, 2008, at her home at the age of 92.
Born on Nov. 13, 1916, on Kaua‘i, she was a typesetter for The Garden Island Publishing Company.
She was preceded in death by husband Minoru “Barney”; father William Junokichi Senda; Kayo Yamada Senda; brother George Senda; sister Ruth Akiko Senda.
She is survived by siblings Kazuo (Norma) Senda, Flora Senda, John Senda; children Amy (Kenneth) Higa, Carol Hamamura, Bryan Muranaka and Albert (Lynette) Muranaka; grandchildren LeeAnn (Joseph), Wendell, Jade (Elwin), Garin, Kendall (Rosanna), Sherri Lee (Michael), and Allyn; great-grandchildren Matthew, Alyssa, Steven, Anthony, Devynn, Dominique, Jenna, Evan and Jaquelyn; sister-in-law Mabel Senda.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, at Lihu‘e Christian Church; services to follow. Casual attire is suggested and the family requests that flowers be omitted.

Beatrice Billedo
Beatrice Rumion Billedo died Dec. 24, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 92. Born March 8, 1916, in Kapa‘a, she retired as head forelady for Hawaiian Fruit Packers and Aetna Maintenance.
She was preceded in death by husband Jose B. Billedo; parents Albert Rumion Sr. and Mary Ilalaole Waialeale; sisters Germina Quereto, Mary Sa, Louise Young; brothers George Waialeale, Albert Rumion Jr. and Manuel Rumion; daughters Mary Creveston, Polly Ann Kiger and Kathlyn Quia.
She is survived by son Matthew (Corine) Billedo; sister Connie Carvalho of Lihu‘e; brother Robert “Bobby” Rumion of Las Vegas, Nev.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous niece and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, at Kapaa Public Cemetery for a graveside service.

Cleo Bermoy
Cleo Elizabeth Iaea Bermoy of Kalaheo died Dec. 24, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 77. She was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Honolulu.
She was preceded in death by father Joseph Keanu Iaea Sr., mother Mabel Kahikina Lii, son Wendell Bermoy, sister Mona Arthur, and grandsons Kauhi Simao and Tyrus Simao.
She is survived by husband Henry Bermoy Sr.; sons Henry (Patsy) Bermoy Jr. and Wayne Bermoy, both of Kalaheo; daughters Sandra (Richard) Quinsaat of Kalaheo, Stephanie Bermoy of Kalaheo, Colleen (Paul) Kapu of Kula, Maui, Trudy Silva (William Viernez) of Waikoloa, Big Island, Linda (Paul) Nicholas of England and Charlene (Ernie) Paden of Lawa‘i; brothers Joseph Iaea Jr., Huddy Iaea, Jonah Iaea, Christopher Iaea, Harold Iaea, Lani Iaea and Neki Iaea, all of Honolulu; sisters Nani Trelor of New Jersey, Olivia Miller of Las Vegas and Hedy Mae Iaea of Honolulu; and numerous grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service begins at 10 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Dee Ann Uchida
Dee Ann Eiko Uchida died Sept. 16, 2008, in Tualatin, Ore., at the age of 55.
Born in Lihu‘e, she was a nutrition services payroll specialist for the Portland Public Schools.
She was preceded in death by mother Sachie Uchida.
She is survived by father Michiyuki Uchida, brothers Alvin (Susan) Uchida and Barry (Cheryl) Uchida, nephew Nick Uchida, niece Maile Uchida, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of her life will begin with visitation from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, at Lihue Christian Church. Services will follow at 10 a.m.
Isidra Aqui
Isidra Maglinte Aqui of Kapa‘a died Dec. 24, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 86.
Born May 14, 1922, in the Philippines, she was a retired sales clerk.
She was preceded in death by husband Simeon; sons Michael and Melvin Aqui; parents Demetrio and Marcela Maglinte; and sisters Dionisia Hangce, Adela Galvez, Jovita Domingo and Beatrice Tactay.
She is survived by sisters Segunda Pia, Pat (Adriano) Mendoza, Cresencia (Sonny) Labuguen, Marcelia Maglinte, Gloria (Angel) Madrid; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa‘a; Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Catherines Church Cemetery.
