Donald Ellsworth Fisher of Lihu‘e died Dec. 25, 2008, at his home in Lihu‘e at the age of 79. Born Feb. 24, 1929, in Massachusetts, he was a retired painter.
He is survived by wife Yvonne Fisher; daughters Jean (Brian) Fisher-Kramer-Cook, Nancy Perone, Donna Sargent and Jennifer Fuller; sons Randall Fisher, Jeff (Rose Ann) Fisher, John (Jillian) Fisher and William (Janice) Fisher; 11 grandchildren; brothers Richard Fisher, William Fisher and Raymond Fisher; and sister Barbara Devlin.
Private services will be held on a later date.
Borthwick Kauai Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Genaro Puscua Aceret of Kapa‘a died Dec. 12, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 84. Born Sept. 19, 1924, in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired quality assurance specialist for New West Company.
He is survived by wife Enriquita Aceret, sons Allan (Carol) Aceret and Jafrey Aceret, daughter Tracey Aceret, two granddaughters and one grandson.
Private services were held.
Cheryl Lynn Cormier of Kalaheo died Dec. 26, 2008, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 53. Born in Delaware, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by sons Mark Chappel, Matthew Townsand, Michael Townsand and Jonathan Townsand; daughter Rebecca Townsand; three grandchildren; and sister Debi Zargon.
A celebration of her life will be held with family.
Donald A. Merkel of Carefree, Ariz., died Dec. 13, 2008, in Scottsdale, Ariz., at the age of 64. Born March 28, 1944, in Los Angeles, Calif., he was a retired lieutenant of Milipitas Police Department in California.
He was preceded in death by son Stephen A. Merkel.
He is survived by wife Rose (Loki) Merkel; daughters Krista Rios, Julie Waters, Sandee Harris, Desiree Bedford and Mistie Mathews; and seven grandchildren.
Service was held at Friday, Dec. 19, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society by visiting the Web site www.cancer.org/donate
