A female visitor was evacuated from remote Hanakapi‘ai Beach on the North Shore via helicopter yesterday afternoon after sustaining a shoulder injury, according to county officials and representatives of Inter-Island Helicopters and.
County spokeswoman Mary Daubert said yesterday that Air 1, piloted by Ken D’Attilio, took two rescue specialists and one firefighter to Hanakapi‘ai to pick up a 50-year-old woman.
A representative of Inter-Island Helicopters said the woman was believed to be a kindergarten teacher visiting from Michigan who had suffered an injury to her right shoulder.
The woman was airlifted to Princeville Airport and released to medics, according to Daubert.
After being checked out and released, the woman went to Wilcox Memorial Hospital in a private vehicle.
Her identity and medical status were unavailable as of press time.
