Recently, Craig and Lisa Maas donated $5,000 to support after-school programs for children and their families. Maas believes in giving back to the community and has supported many local organizations.
Circles of Light has received funding from the State of Hawai‘i, Department of Human Services, Office of Youth Service as well as Young Brothers, Wal-mart, and the Kaua‘i Mayor’s Office to purchase art supplies for children’s programs.
“Our entire island community will benefit from this generous donation” said Sharon Gonsalves, President of Circles of Light’s Board of Directors. “We can continue to offer much needed programs free of charge around Kaua‘i.”
Since 2001, Circles of Light has been a presence with weekly after school art classes in Kekaha. Programs have spread to Hanapepe, Kalaheo, Lihu‘e, Hanama‘ulu and Kapa‘a and are open to all children ages six to 12 years old.
