Three games are on tap when the Americans of Japanese Ancestry baseball league opens its 2008 season Sunday.
Earl Miyao, one of the Kaua‘i AJA leaders, said games will be played on Sundays at two sites, with the exception of the season opener where all three games will be played at Vidinha Stadium.
The season’s first game will start at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, followed by the formal opening ceremonies from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. That will be followed by games at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Following opening day, two games will be played every Sunday at Vidinha Stadium, starting at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., plus one game at the Hanapepe Stadium starting at 11 a.m.
With the current schedule, no games are scheduled for Feb. 1, Super Bowl Sunday, unless rainout games need to be played.
The six teams that make up this year’s AJA league include the Waimea Tsunami, the Makaweli Indians, the Lihu‘e Builders, the Hanapepe Rivermen, Kapa‘a and the Kalaheo Kaneshiro Farms.
