Dr. Brennon Morioka, Director of the State of Hawai‘i Department of Transportation will provide the keynote at the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce’s first luncheon event of 2009 on Wednesday, January 14 at the Hilton Kaua‘i Beach Resort.
Dr. Morioka will keynote with Governor Lingle’s 5-point Economic Action plan as part of the state’s efforts to infuse the state economy with nearly $1.8 billion in infrastructure projects. As a result, these projects will provide construction and building industry trade jobs and contribute to a multiplier effect. Dr. Morioka is responsible for upgrading and modernizing the state’s transportation systems, including airports, harbors and highways. He previously served as the Deputy Director of Highways at DOT.
Before entering public service, Dr. Morioka was a Senior Geo-technical Engineer in the Honolulu Office of URS Corporation, one of the largest engineering firms in the world.
