HONOLULU – After playing its first road game of the year, the University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Warrior basketball team returned home from Illinois to host Eastern Washington out of the Big Sky Conference tomorrow. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
It will be the first of eight straight home games for the ’Bows, who play 13-of-14 games at the Stan Sheriff Center to start the season. Hawai‘i will follow its contest with Eastern Washington with a matchup just two days later versus Chicago State.
Hawai‘i (3-3) saw its modest three-game win streak snapped at Illinois, 68-58, on Monday night. Hawai‘i out-rebounded the Illini, 43-14, but was plagued by turnovers (22), in dropping its first road game of the year.
The Rainbow Warriors are led by junior guard Roderick Flemings (16.5 points per game, 8.0 rebounds per game) and the frontcourt tandem of Bill Amis (11.0 ppg, 8.8 rpg) and Petras Balocka (13.3 ppg).
Eastern Washington (6-2) comes to Hawai‘i riding a three-game win streak. Hawai‘i has won all three meetings between the teams, including twice in Honolulu.
This will be the first meeting between the teams since 1970.
