Jeff Hubbard of Lihu‘e made history this week when he took home his third consecutive U.S. Bodyboarding Association title Monday in the 2008 Sport Chalet Pro at Salt Creek, Calif.
Hubbard had the highest score of the day in his quarterfinal heat with a roll to barrel to airs that was the highlight of the day’s action. Hubbard went on to dominate throughout the finals.
Travis Smith of Kilauea came home with his first national title win in his first year competing on the USBA Tour.
Smith was one of the two bodyboarders who were victim to back-to-back heats as he progressed through the 13 to 18 and Open Amateur divisions, but he was able to come out victorious.
Smith then announced that he will be competing as a full-time USBA professional starting next year.
