Pattachia remains lone Hawaiian surfing

Fred Patacchia is the only Hawai‘i surfer still competing in the Hang Loose Santa Catarina Pro in Imbituba, Brazil. Pattachia yesterday beat Brazil’s Hizunome Bettero to lock down a Round 4 duel with lone Californian Timmy Reyes.

Earlier in the day, Kaua‘i’s Roy Powers (4.43) was eliminated by Brazil’s Heitor Alves (12.83)

The competition will resume today with Pattachia placed in Heat 8 against Reyes.

The Hang Loose Santa Catarina Pro is the last stop before the Association of Srufing Professionals return to Hawai‘i.

The Reef Hawaiian Pro is the first stop of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing and is set for Nov. 12 through 23. Power’s will be defending his title against the likes of fellow Kaua‘i surfer Andy Irons, and O‘ahu’s Sunny Garcia.

Following that will be the O’Neill Pro and Billabong Pipeline Masters.
