HONOLULU — The new-look University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Warrior men’s basketball team will make its season debut with an exhibition game versus UH-Hilo at 5:05 p.m. tomorrow at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The men’s basketball squad, led by second-year head coach Bob Nash, returns five letterwinners this year and just one starter, junior forward Bill Amis.
For the first time in recent history, the Rainbow Warriors lack a single senior on the roster. More than half the squad is made up of underclassmen. This year’s roster includes seven juniors, two sophomores, four redshirt freshmen, and two true freshmen.
Meanwhile, six new players join the Rainbow Warriors, including junior college transfers Brandon Adams, Petras Balocka and Lasha Parghalava; first-team junior college All-American Roderick Flemings; and freshman Adam Jespersen.
The men’s basketball team will play 20 regular-season home games, its most in 30 years.
The Rainbow Warriors will play a second exhibition game on Friday, Nov. 7 versus Chaminade, before opening the regular season versus San Francisco on Nov. 14 in the Verizon Wireless Tip-Off Classic.
Both the men’s and women’s teams will be available for autographs following the game.
