Justin Garma had a hat trick to lead the Galaxy to the finals of the Under 12 Boys, Tuesday.
The Galaxy, a U12B team in the American Soccer Youth Organization, Region 940, advanced to the regional championship game with a 10-1 win over the Lihu‘e Iron Men at the North Vidinha fields.
The Teter sisters, Ember and Tierra, had first-half goals to lead Waimea Team Onipa‘a to a 4-1 win over Kalaheo (Lono Gardner) in an Under 14 Girls game.
In an elimination contest Tuesday, the Lihu‘e (Mayer) team was nipped by Lihu‘e (Motosue), 3-2, advancing the Lihu‘e (Motosue) to face Kalaheo (Gardner) in a playoff yesterday afternoon. The winner of that matchup advances to the regional championships at Hanapepe Stadium on Monday starting at 6 p.m.
Galaxy, with its victory over the Iron Men, will play Tuesday at Hanapepe Stadium starting at 6 p.m.
Following Garma’s hat trick, Topher Inman, Bryan Soria and Jarred Okayama each netted two goals and a goal by Conor Turley rounded out the Galaxy’s scoring over the Iron Men.
Brevin Ako scored the sole Lihu‘e goal.
Ember Teter opened the Onipa‘a books on a long shot followed by Tierra Teter following with a shot from the left just inside the penalty box. Jaymee Knapp’s breakaway goal in the second quarter gave Onipa‘a a 3-0 halftime lead.
Malu Vegas brought Kalaheo back into the fray with less than a minute peeled off the second half as she marked on a breakaway goal.
Waimea iced the victory when Ivy Sarmiento scored midway through the final quarter on a breakaway goal down the right side.
