Police question murder suspect

KAPAHI — An argument in the garage of a home on Kawaihau Road in Kapahi ended with a 43-year-old man dead from gunshot wounds and a 22-year-old male in police custody, Kaua‘i Police Department officers said yesterday.

Kaua‘i Police Capt. Alejandre Quibilan and Deputy Chief Mark Begley confirmed the apparent homicide.

Quibilan said a call to emergency dispatch at 2:50 p.m. requested medics to the Eastside home.

The suspect was being questioned by detectives yesterday evening in Police Cellblock.

Quibilan said the incident is believed to have originated in a domestic dispute before shots were fired.

The incident remains under investigation.
