The following individuals recently launched a business, were appointed to a leadership position or honored for their work in the business community:
• Thomas Hoen was named president of the Kaua‘i Developers Council at its last regular meeting.
Hoen is a project manager for Kukui‘ula Development Co. He joined the team in 2003 and is currently involved in Kukui‘ula’s Workforce Housing Project, HOA and Golf Maintenance Facilities, Kukui‘ula Village and various sitework utility projects.
Hoen came to Kaua‘i in 1987 as a project engineer for the development of Kaua‘i Lagoons, at that time consisting of the two golf courses, the lagoons and retail facilities. He then went to Princeville Development, were he was named project manager of the Prince Clubhouse Project until 1992.
After Hurricane ‘Iniki, Hoen worked as an owner’s construction manager on the rebuilding of the Kiahuna Plantation Resort followed by the Sheraton Poipu Resort.
• Dr. Michael Lutwin has joined the Kilauea dental office of Dr. Ileana Carreno. Lutwin is a graduate of New York University College of Dentistry, and has practiced on both Kaua‘i and Maui.
He is practicing general dentistry with an emphasis on treating the whole mouth, including extractions, root canals, fillings, crowns, implant restoration as well as cosmetic dentistry.
• Gregg Grigaitis was promoted to regional project director of Hawai‘i timeshare operations for Marriott Vacation Club. Grigaitis will be responsible for coordinating sales strategies and working directly with the onsite leadership teams at Marriott Vacation Club’s four oceanfront locales: Waiohai Beach Club and Kaua’i Beach Club on Kaua‘i, Maui Ocean Club and Ko Olina Beach Club on O‘ahu.
Grigaitis returns to Hawai‘i after five years. Most recently, he was project director of sales at Marriott’s Grand Chateau in Las Vegas. Prior to that, he was project director at Marriott’s Legends Edge located along Florida’s golf coast.
Grigaitis began his career with Marriott Vacation Club in 1990 as a sales executive in the Orlando region.
Grigaitis earned a bachelor of science degree in finance from Siena College in New York, and a master of business administration in corporate strategy as well as a master of science in industrial management from Clemson University in South Carolina.
Grigaitis, along with his wife, Olivia, and two children, are based on O‘ahu.
