Last week Kaua‘i Society of Artists hosted a slideshow and lecture at its art space in Kukui Grove Shopping Center. Presenters Lisa Yoshihara and Wayne Kawamoto of University of Hawai‘i Art Gallery presented “Excelling the Work of Heaven: Personal Adornment from China” which featured images from the award-winning exhibition co-curated by Yoshihara and held at the university’s art gallery in fall 2007. The original show featured 700 exquisite objects of personal adornment made of silver, jade, kingfisher feathers, ivory, precious stones and coral. Art Kaua‘i, KSA’s annual juried show, hangs in the Kukui Grove Shopping Center art space until Oct. 31.
