PRINCEVILLE — John Lynch (67-67) of GolfTec Honolulu and Ron Castillo Jr (68-66) of the Puakea Golf Course tied at 10-under par 134 for the lead after the second round of play in the Aloha Section PGA Professional Championship at the Princeville Makai Course. The pair will conclude with a sudden-death playoff today to determine the champion.
Five strokes back were Andrew Feldmann (68-71) of O‘ahu Country Club and John Hearn (70-69) of KMR School of Golf who were tied for third at 5-under par 139. They will also play in a playoff today to determine who gets the third spot to the 2009 PGA Professional National Championship.
Professionals participating in the Section PGA Professional Championship had their first 36-hole scores qualify them for three spots representing the Aloha Section in the 42nd PGA Professional National Championship from June 28 to July 1 at Twin Warriors Golf Club and Santa Ana Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo, N.M.
In the Stroke Play Championship, the top four in the section championship were also the top scorers for the Championship Division of the Stroke Play event.
In the Senior Division Lance Taketa of Hilo Municipal Golf Course (67-75) still holds a seven-shot lead over the rest of the field at 142. Mike Iyoki of U.S. Army Golf Courses (77-72) is in second at 149. David Chin of Navy Marine Golf Course and Jay Taise of Mauna Kea Resort are tied for third at 150. Rodney Acia of Hilo Municipal Golf Course leads the Super Senior Division with a 2 day total of 154.
