Hats off to Mattie Yoshioka and her crew of organizers for hosting the 2008 Kaua‘i Renewable Energy Conference!
Clyde Hayashi (remember the Wilcox nurses?) was on hand along with a host of other leaders from government and private sector interested in getting the island off dependence on oil.
Joyce Evens had her Waimea High School videographers Joey Kirstine and Dayton Bayot working both days of the conference, and they won’t stop there because tonight they do the video of the Menehune and Island School at the Clem Gomes Gym.
The Waimea team was filming the event for Mattie and her committee, and Melissa McFerrin came right off the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau Fair to help take notes of the presentations for Mattie as well.
Kudos to Mary Bea Porter-King and her Hawai‘i State Junior Golf ‘ohana on hosting an exciting Mixed Team tournament over the weekend at the Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course. Mahalo, too, to Lauren Yama for getting the info out in a timely manner.
Cory and Kelli Oride were in this tournament, coming straight off the Mayor’s Cup Challenge tournament last week in Wailua … Michael and Gail were doing the nice Sunday walk along the course, and Gail was even planning on taking in some KSA soccer, if they could get out early. Brian Mamaclay was following Sean’s progress through the tournament, and the only person missing was Gary Saiki.
