Kaua‘i Seniors Golf Club hosts tourney

The Kaua‘i Senior Golf Club will have its third quarterly tournament on Saturday at the Wailua Golf Course. Applications are still available at the golf course and the current entry fee to play is $10.

The handicap will be for August 2008.

New members age 55 and older are welcome. An additional $8 for annual dues will also be collected from new members.

A special meeting will be held at the Wailua Golf Course immediately following the conclusion (about 1:30 p.m.) of the seniors tournament. The purpose of the meeting will be to vote on reducing the eligibility age for becoming a member of the Club from 55 to 50 years.

All members are encouraged to attend and their participation will be greatly appreciated.

Outrigger club hosts water safety fundraiser

Kukui‘ula Outrigger Club will host a golf tournament at the Kiahuna Golf Course with a portion of the proceeds supporting water safety on Kaua‘i. The programs are for both residents and visitors.

The tournament will be from noon to 5 p.m. at Kiahuna.

GIRA present ‘King of the Track’

The Garden Island Racing Association presents the “NHRA King of the Track” Saturday and Sunday. Gates open from 11 a.m. on both days with time trials starting at 2 p.m. Racing begins from 7:30 p.m.

Admission is $12 per person with children 12 and under free.

Classes to be featured at this weekend’s series include Pro ET, Sport Compact, Muscle V8, Motorcycles, Jr. Dragster and Street Legal.

A banner on the ocean-side of the highway past Kekaha will announce the entrance to the raceway park.
