The above notices are compiled from reports made public by the Kauai‘ Police Department.
• The Office of Information Practices says the Kaua‘i Police Department must disclose the names of arrested residents.
• The OIP also states that no resident should be taken into custody secretly, and those who are arrested should be taken in only after probable cause has been established.
• The Garden Island publishes the names of those who have warrants issued for their arrest or are arrested within the county, including but not limited to, those released on bail or released pending investigation. Those who are arrested and released “no charge” also can be included.
