The county will conduct an electronic recycling event in the parking lot at Vidinha Stadium near the end of this month.
The two-day event is scheduled for Aug. 22 and Aug. 23, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friday’s collection is designated for businesses, while Saturday’s collection is open to residents.
All electronic items will be accepted at no charge including computers, fax machines, laptops, monitors, printers, stereo equipment and televisions.
Items collected during the event will be recycled by a Mainland company.
All data storage media collected will be cleaned or destroyed, however, those who are concerned about sensitive data should remove the data prior to recycling. Any of the following methods can be used for data removal: remove or retain the hard drive; physically destroy the hard drive; or erase data from the hard drive.
For instructions on how to erase data from a hard drive, contact a computer specialist or visit dban.sourceforge.net
