KAGRA hosts its final rodeo for season
The final rodeo in the 2008 Kaua‘i All Girls Rodeo Association Cowgirl Challenge takes place this Sunday, Aug. 10, at the CJM Country Stables in Po‘ipu.
The action begins at 10 a.m. and continues until about 2 p.m. with the cowgirls competing in barrel racing, pole bending, steer undecorating, breakaway roping and dally team roping. During the year points are accumulated by the winning contestants in each of the events. Following the final rodeo, the points are tallied to determine first-, second- and third-place winners. The cowgirl with the highest cumulative points wins the title of “All Around Cowgirl 2008.” Many of the races are very close with only a few points separating the placements. Admission is free.
