Applications for the Kmart 11th annual Shoreline Fishing Tournament are now available.
Anglers can pick up the forms at the customer service counter for the tournament which kicks off from 12:01 p.m. July 18 and concludes with the weigh-in which takes place July 20 between 10 a.m. and noon.
Sandy Higa, a who was one of the Kmart charter associates involved in launching the tournament 11 years ago, said this year’s event features two new categories.
“We are re-instating the Oio category and starting a Largest eel category, just for fun,” Higa said.
Additionally, there will be three children’s categories: one for children between 4 to 8 years old, one for children 9 to 12 years old and a final one for teens between 13 to 17 years old.
The categories available for shoreline anglers include Largest Ulua with a pot of $500 for the heaviest fish.
Other categories include Largest Papio, Saltwater 5 pounds and under, and Saltwater 5 pounds and over.
There is a $30 entry fee for each category.
Children categories are $5 for each angler.
A full set of rules accompanies the application form and may be obtained at the Kmart customer service desk.
Maurice Sporting Goods is a main sponsor for this family event.
