This annual fundraiser for Kaua‘i Hospice offers the largest aerial fireworks show on Kaua‘i, as well as family fun and games and food from top hotels and restaurants. Gates open at 2 p.m. with continuous live entertainment at Vidinha Soccer Field in Lihu‘e. Advance admission price is $10 for adults, $5 for keiki 6 to 12 years, under 5 free. Tomorrow, Robin Savage Gifts in Ching Young Village
A self-taught painter whose influences include the painterly feel of Van Gogh, Moses Hamilton’s acrylics and oils can be seen tomorrow from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Robin Savage Gifts in Hanalei. This is a semi-annual show. Hamilton paints with the handle of a brush balanced between his teeth. The North Shore native was left paralyzed after a car accident in 2002 and took up painting as part of his rehabilitation. To learn more about the artist, visit mosesart.org

Children’s summer reading program presents storyteller Janice Terukina who will share humorous folktales, poetry and participatory games from around the world told in local style. Born and raised on O‘ahu, Terukina worked as a full-time actress in Los Angeles, spending half her career with the East West Players. Since returning to Hawai‘i, she has performed with the Honolulu Theatre for Youth and Kumu Kahua Theatre.

Garden Island Arts Council and Kaua‘i Bonyu Kai invite the public to a summer exhibit of fine bonsai Kaua‘i style held at the art council’s gallery at the Kukui Grove Shopping Center. This evening bonsai display will be on pedestals under lights. There will be narrated tours of the exhibit provided by club members. The exhibition runs from 5 to 9 p.m.

Antique quilts from the Kaua‘i Museum collection as well as quilts from the community are shared in the main gallery exhibit. Learn some of the unique traditions tied to this art form as practiced on Kaua‘i. See the entire collection of W.J. Senda photographs of the 1933 Mokihana Club of Kaua‘i’s first-time quilt exhibit as shown on a slideshow with two of the quilts on display in the gallery.
