KAPA‘A — Yesterday officials continued to investigate an apparent drive-by shooting near Kapa‘a’s McDonald’s restaurant late Friday night, Kaua‘i Police Department Lt. Jon Takamura said yesterday.
At roughly 11 p.m., a silver sedan traveling southbound on Kuhio Highway fired two shots in the general direction of the McDonald’s, Takamura said.
The store was in the process of closing and employees were allowing the last patrons to leave. Nobody was injured, but “damages were sustained to the building,” according to the officer.
Patrons and employees said they knew of no possible motive for the shooting.
A McDonald’s manager declined comment yesterday.
Anyone with information on the incident should contact Detective Patrick Balbarino at 241-1684, Police Dispatch at 241-1711 or Crime Stoppers at 241-1887.
