Kaua‘i sports camp July 7 to 11 will be at two locations this year. A morning camp will be held at the Kapa‘a New Town Park from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. An afternoon camp will be held at Kalawai Park in Kalaheo from 3 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Open to children ages 6 to 12 at a cost of $40 for the week.
Instruction will be offered in soccer, basketball and cheerleading. Participants will receive a camp T-shirt, daily Sports Flash newsletters, iron-on patches and a collector’s pin. Drinks and snacks will also be provided. Campers should bring sunscreen and wear sports attire appropriate to their sport.
Churches involved in running the camps include Kapa‘a Missionary Church, Kalaheo Missionary Church, Koloa Missionary Church, Calvary Chapel Kaua‘i, New Hope Kapa‘a, and Lihu‘e Missionary Church. The camps reach out to children in the community to provide sports activity for them during the summer, to train them in soccer, basketball, or cheerleading skills and daily Bible lessons.
UW Sports Ministries, a sports resource ministry from Colorado Springs will provide coaches for the camp. The ministry helps to develop sports programs geared toward children across the United States and in foreign nations, including China and Korean.
