Marlo Louis Medeiros is having one of those weeks, but made it back from lunch to be able to get a touch of Christmas when she joined the Festival of Lights friends in accepting a Young Brothers check, Wednesday.
Having a touch of the holidays in the middle of summer can be a good thing as Marlo said Glenn Hong, YB president, came down to cook steak and eggs for the Nawiliwili Port crew in celebration of the station going for 1,040 days accident free.
And Wendall Kam wasn’t going to let Glenn have all the fun so he jumped in to help, Marlo said.
Also on the industrial scene, Jane Garma from Syngenta Seeds said they had a truck driver awareness day, Thursday at the Kekaha facility. She said that event was like a carnival but everything being geared to truck driving … and, yes, there was lunch, again.
Hats off to Josie Pablo and that amazing Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital crew which celebrated their 22nd year of taking patients to Lydgate Park.
Josie said the hospital got great support from Kaleo Carvalho and bus drivers Kathleen Ah Quin, Leona Workman, Mark Uyeda, Vince Lopez and Chase Aranio of the Kaua‘i Bus in being able to move the patients from the hospital to Lydgate Park. If it wasn’t for these people, they would’ve been able to just take whoever could fit in the hospital’s single bus.
