600 attend Wilcox Hospital family event

More than 600 people attended the Bone and Joint Center at Kauai Medical Clinic’s free family event “Kids Summer Fest” Saturday at the Hilton Kauai Beach Resort.

Approximately 60 Kauai Medical Clinic and Wilcox Memorial Hospital volunteers as well as more than 60 community members participated.

The event offered free keiki I.D., sports health physicals, summer safety talks by doctors and local experts, tours of the Kaua‘i Police Department Incidence Command Center and of a fire truck and ambulance; and interactive fun at the community health agency booths.

Highlights of the event will be shown on an upcoming episode of “Wala’au” with Dickie Chang.

Throughout the morning participants were encouraged to attend the talk story sessions by doctors and local experts on topics such as water safety, infectious diseases, overuse injuries and solar radiation safety.
