Kaimana Jaquias won the King of the Groms Hawai‘i qualifier, Monday, at Kewalo Basin and also pocketed a total of $900.
The 15-year-old of Lihu‘e won $100 for each heat he won (6), plus another $100 for the overall win and $200 for the most futuristic maneuver.
With the win, Jaquias received a spot in the KOG Global Championships in France scheduled for this fall. The winner of the grand finals is awarded a spot into two of the world’s biggest World Championship Tour series events — The Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast Australia and the Quiksilver Pro France.
The KOG is in its fourth year and consists of a series of qualifying events.
The first was held in Florida last week, the second on O‘ahu on Monday, and the third and final qualifier will be on June 23 at Huntington Beach, Calif.
