Motorcyclist injured in drag race

MANA — A motorcyclist was seriously injured Saturday night in a drag race at Kaua‘i Raceway Park on the Westside, a county spokesperson said. Medics transported the individual to Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital.

Officials could not release the injured rider’s name due to privacy laws.

The nonprofit Garden Isle Racing Association promotes safe motorsports and responsible street driving, according to its Web site, and hosts NHRA-sanctioned drag racing at Kaua‘i Raceway Park in Mana.

The next event, Independence Day Races, is July 4 and July 5.
