Senior golfers compete in tournament at Wailua
The Kauai Seniors Golf Club completed one of its tournaments over the weekend at the Wailua Golf Course.
Kei Yamane took the top honors for the Flight Place A, beating the field by two shots at 4-under 68.
Richard Kuga shot a 66 for first place in Flight B, while Murry Hudson shot a 67 for Flight Place C.
Hiroko Louis won the nearest to the No. 17 pin contest. For full results, see today’s Scoreboard on B2.
Pop Warner moves up registration
Due to new deadlines, the Koloa Pop Warner Association is moving up its tackle football registration dates and offering a special 20 percent off discount if registered before July 3.
The registration fee is $80 per child or family rate of $80 for the first child and $50 for each additional. New dates are from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on June 10, 11, 18, 19, 25, 26 and July 3 at the Koloa Ball Park.

Hoops signups underway
The 4th Annual Kaua‘i Open Invitational Boys Basketball Tournament is currently taking applications from 12 and Under and 14 and Under teams.
Hosted by the Rotary Club of West Kaua‘i and the ZZ Youth Basketball Program, the tournament will allow a coed team and will also entertain an all-girls team to compete against the boys’ team for this year’s tournament.
The tournament is scheduled to run from June 26 to 28 at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, and deadline for registration is June 15.
An all-girls tournament will be created if there are at least four teams per age division which enter by the registration deadline.
The age determination for all players is Dec. 31, 2007.
