Kaua‘i’s North Shore Boys Ed Constantine and Will Brewer came out victorious in a playoff for the top slot of Division II in the 14th Annual Mixed Doubles Horseshoe Pitching tournament last weekend.
The Anahola Horseshoe Club hosted the two-day event featuring 16 teams playing a round robin format for top seeding in Sunday’s championship.
Jesse Colon, a seven-time former Hawai‘i Men State Champion of Aiea, O‘ahu, and Howard “Lopaka” Kamoku Jr. of Anahola teamed for the championship in Division I.
Seta Ulu, the 2007 Hawai‘i Woman State Champion of Nanakuli, O‘ahu, partnered with Pam Tomas of Kaneohe, O‘ahu, for second place in that division.
Enriques Madre and Luci Hop, both from Hilo, Hawai‘i, picked up the third-place trophy Kimo David, the 2007 Hawai‘i Men State Champion, of Waimanalo, O‘ahu, partnered with Phyllis Onizuka of Honolulu for fourth place.
Lynn Carson and Sam David, both of Waimanalo, O‘ahu, followed the North Shore Boys for second place in Division II.
Keith Frias and Cherice Kanda, an uncle-and-neice combo from Waiana‘e, O‘ahu, filled in third place for that division.
