The following individuals recently launched a business, were appointed to a leadership position or honored for their work in the business community:
• Dr. Emma Torrijos, a pediatrician, has joined the staff at West Kauai Clinics in Kalaheo. Torrijos was born and raised in the Philippines. She graduated from medical school at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. She comes to Kaua‘i from Brooklyn, New York, where she has been working in pediatrics since 1989.
Torrijos, who speaks Tagolag, specializes in newborn health as well as children with asthma, allergies and other chronic diseases.
• Kymry A. Perez of Sleeping Giant Sotheby’s International Realty has completed the REALTOR e-PRO certification course. The course provides real estate professionals with the technology tools needed to assist consumers in the purchase or sale of a home.
• Debra Jason was elected vice president of the Kauai North Shore Business Council board of directors. Jason takes over the responsibilities from former Vice President Mike Stewart of Uncle Mikey’s Hawaiian Foods, who stepped down due to scheduling conflicts. She joined the council in 2002 and was elected to its board of directors in 2003.
She is the owner of The Write Direction. In addition, she is a successful Realtor Associate with Vision Realty’s Hanalei office.
