Eric Fujimoto is a regular at the “Taste of Hawai‘i” and said this year, the Kapa‘a High School softball team is one of the groups coming out to help.
That’s coming up tomorrow … the same day Kaua‘i High School is having its baseball banquet (how many of you are doing both?) and Tom Leighton folks have their annual ride out in the coffee fields.
According to BB Choi of FM97, tickets for the baseball banquet might still be available.
Coach Orlando Anaya is another volunteer who has the swimmers from Mokihana Aquatics out helping at the “Taste,” and this year, Coach “O” said they can use more bodies.
And if you need something to do now that the KIF is done with its schedule, Mia Pauletto, vice president of the Garden Island Canoe Racing Association said its summer season is getting underway. Today’s race is at the Wailua River with Na Opio (the young ‘uns) racing in the morning.
Congratulations to Sheila Nakayama on graduating from Pacific Lutheran University. She had to student-teach in Africa. Dad Dean and mom Lei spent the weekend in Bellevue (PLU is the other way, guys), and Lei said you could tell the Hawai‘i people because of all the lei. Dean was more thrilled because he got to see Ichiro Suzuki (anyone remember the Hilo Stars?) make a fab catch in the outfield. Go visit Sheila some time after June 6 … she has to get set up for her teaching job on O‘ahu.
Congratulations to all the high school grads, here. Stay safe and best wishes for a successful future.
