Clifton Hashimoto loves the League Lineup Web site which helped people track the game schedules for the LBL Bash 4 Memorial Day baseball tournament.
Tommy Rita was at the Blue-and-White game with Roy Miyashiro and commented on how hard it is to get schedules of baseball games and the subject of Web sites came up.
Kudos to Richard Mendoza and his great committee on hosting the biggest tournament yet!
Warren Koga had to come and check out the action Sunday evening, and it was nice to see coach Jabba Garcia (they still have tickets for the Kaua‘i High School baseball banquet this Sunday) back on the baseball field, too.
Coach Winston Ogata now has a baseball cap instead of the golf cap, but still can’t get away from golf since he knows Manoa Dirtbags’ coach Craig Ibara’s mom from golf. He said Craig’s mom was a golfer and his dad was an engineer before they moved to Honolulu.
But that Westside connection never got lost since Wendall Nonaka (he said the Kekaha PONY came alive, Sunday) and Lance Nakata all know Craig and came to see the Dirtbags play.
Destry Carvalho said he played college ball with Craig, too. And Craig remembers playing under Waimea coach Walter Souza as a Menehune.
Hats off to Allan “Blackie” Ramos who said he’s retiring after this tournament. Joe Bertucci even presented Blackie a lei, and the game was still going on.
