Small Kalaheo blaze extinguished

A small brushfire off Waha Road in Kalaheo yesterday was contained around 6 p.m.

The fire broke out around 5:30 p.m. according to emergency frequency radio traffic. Upon arrival firefighters discovered a patch of brush about 20 feet by 30 feet burning makai of the road.

Firefighters used hoses and shovels to extinguish the flames as it burned down a hill.

No homes or structures were threatened by the fire.
