Variable winds and showers Wednesday afternoon kept the scores above par at the challenging Wailua Golf Course. Okino, a member of the state championship Punahou School golf team, was the only qualifier to advance to the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship at Erin Hills Golf Course, Delafield, Wisc., June 16 to 21.
The Women’s Amateur Public Links is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association, 10 of which are strictly for amateurs.
Britney Yada of Hilo also competed and finished in third with 81. Lihu‘e’s Rae-Lyn Morikawa and Kapa‘a’s Gabi Saiki both shot 87.
