Jacob Freeman of Cane Fire had the lone goal in the first of two games played Friday night at Vidinha Stadium.
Freeman netted the goal to lead Cane Fire to a 1-0 win in the opener while Chono Fernandez netted two goals to lead Hanalei to a 4-0 showing over Kryptonite in the nightcap.
In addition to Fernandez’s goal, Gustafo Rebeiro and Colby Ayonon each scored a goal for the Hanalei win.
According to Sue Strickland of the Kaua‘i Men’s Soccer League, Friday will be the last season game for the men’s league at Vidinha Stadium.
The public is invited to view the competition for free starting at 6 p.m. when Kryptonite takes on the Afterburners. That contest will be followed by Hanalei taking on Cane Fire starting at 8 p.m.
Strickland said the league will host the Kaua‘i Cup starting June 1 with the semifinals starting at 4 and 6 p.m. at Vidinha Stadium.
The finals for the Kaua‘i Cup will be played on June 8, also at Vidinha Stadium, with the third place game starting at 4 p.m. followed by the championship game starting at 6 p.m.
Graduating high school senior players will be honored during the June 1 games, Strickland said.
