The Waimea High School boys volleyball whacked out a tough fifth place with a win over Honoka‘a in the Division II New City Nissan Boys Volleyball State Championships, yesterday.
Honoka‘a, defeated in a three-game match, 26-24, 23-25 and 20-25, claimed the sixth place in the division games which were played at Radford High School.
Waimea, opening with a two-game win over Nanakuli (25-19, 25-13) Wednesday, was edged out of the championship bracket on a tough three-game match against No. 3 Hilo, Thursday.
The 20-25, 26-24, 23-25 result sent the Menehune to the consolation bracket where they handled Seabury Hall in a 25-17, 25-21 win Friday before going up against the Honoka‘a Dragons yesterday.
Honoka‘a, a three-game winner against Kahuku, Wednesday, was relegated to the consolation bracket by top-seeded Hawai‘i Baptist, Thursday.
