Registration for golfers and sponsors for the Korean War Veterans Association golf tournament is still being accepted.
The KWVA tournament is scheduled for May 24 at the Wailua Golf Course with registration starting at 6 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 7 a.m.
Tournament format is individual medal play with a maximum handicap for men set at 30 as of Apr. 1, 2008. Women’s handicap is 36, also as of Apr. 1.
Entry fee for golfers is $75 per golfer and includes a cart, green fees and the post-play awards luncheon which will be held at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center on Kapule Highway in Lihu‘e.
People wishing to attend the luncheon only can purchase lunch tickets for $10 each.
Two mulligans may be purchased at $5 each. Prizes will be awarded in both the ladies and men flights, and the golfer must be present to win the award, states a press release from the KWVA.
Individuals or businesses are being asked to sponsor a tee, contribute a prize, or contribute a monetary donation.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to subsidize the hosting of the 13th Annual Reunion of Hawai‘i’s Korean War veterans. That event will be held in July and also celebrates the 55th anniversary of the end of the Korean War.
