Therese and Richard Jasper had the best plans for the weekend Saturday, as they started out at the Waimea Canyon Park for the Waimea High School season home finale. From there, it was catch a plane for the UH green-and-black game, and then, home to Kaua‘i on the 10 p.m. special.
The Menehune did a great job dressing up the Canyon Park for its final home game, and of course, it’s not a Menehune game unless Albert Soto (he was comparing notes with Joe Grace) is somewhere enjoying the game. Joe said the doctor told him his body is too hungry, so instead of just serving up the roast pork, he has to enjoy some, too.
Anna Jang, the reigning HHSAA girls golf champion, was at the Wailua Golf Course getting in some practice before the state tournament opens this week. Glenn Tamagawa was able to get out of the pro shop and tool around the course to check out how the students were playing.
Michael Oride (congratulations to Kelli and Cory on a job well done) said they know Anna and some of the other Punahou girls because they all play together in tournaments.
Hats off to Cheryl Farrell and the American Heart people on a great Heart Walk. Taylor Shigemoto and his KCFCU gang were there in force as was Dennis Cortez and the Oceanic Time Warner people.
OK, time to get rolling to Koloa School where they did a food drive for Kelvin Moniz and the Kaua‘i Food Bank people. Kelvin has been busy collecting from KIUC (Shelly Paik was with her puppy at the Heart Walk thingie) as well as Elsie Wilcox Elementary School.
