Kaua‘i 3, Kapa‘a 1 – Kaua‘i High School won its final home game of the season, defeating Kapa‘a High School in four games, 25-22, 25-21, 22-25 and 25-21, yesterday.
Sheadon Ringor served for four straight points in the first set to bring Kaua‘i to 19-13. The combinations of Aric Cansino to Travis Stine and Basil Walton worked out great for the Red Raiders as Stine and Walton combined for 11 hits on Cansino’s 11 assists.
In the second set, Kaua‘i relied much on its strong serving. It got two aces from Ringor, and one each from Stine and Jay Fernandez. Kapa‘a, however, was just the opposite. It was the Warriors’ serving that kept them from scoring, with several of them going straight to the net.
Kapa‘a got hot hand from Kila Youn. With two kills, an ace and good blocking, he helped the Warriors force a fourth set.
Youn also hit two more aces in the fourth set. But Kaua‘i would hold on to win it and the match.
Cansino finished with 36 assists.
Stine finished with 16 kills, Walton with 13 and Ringor seven.
For Kapa‘a, Korey Pang had 12 assists and John Berales had 10 kills.
