Congratulations to the Lihu‘e Baseball League for being able to get Frank Sullivan to throw out the first pitch for their new season, Saturday. For those of you who need to know, Frank has been selected to be inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame later this year … what a great inspiration for some future hall of famer.
More kudos to Mary Lardizabal and her Kapa‘a Middle School chorus on striking gold at the Anaheim Heritage Music Festival over the weekend. Somehow, visions of Francesco Garripoli appear whenever thoughts go to those singers.
Mahalo to Nathan Aiwohi for calling with the info, and another round of kudos to Leah Aiwohi and her AOHT class at Kaua‘i High School on its sellout of the luncheon aboard the Norwegian Cruise Line cruise ship … Therese Jasper even made it to whatever sporting event was scheduled that day.
Speaking of sellouts, Shirley Tani said there are only 20 tickets left for the upcoming Spring Gourmet Gala, so if you haven’t gotten yours, they’re going fast.
Congratulations to the Kaua‘i Girls U14 team (although I prefer the name Kaona) coached by Sonny Kaona who ended up in the silver on O‘ahu. The group’s homecoming only added to the excitement of the welcome group for the Kapa‘a MS chorus.
Masami Kouchi was also on that flight, and if you need to find him, he’s working hard on the King Auto Center project.
