Mike Dandurand might not have made the Irish thingie during St. Patrick’s Day, but he was at the March for Babies along with Catherine Paleka and her drum line and color guards.
Among the musical crew, Daphne Sanchez (Art Umezu said Sanchez will be going to Japan to sing at the Hawai‘i theme park) was pretty good at flipping the flags, and as the walkers left, Larry Rivera and daughter Ilima started to set up with Mark James.
Hats off to David Moyles, the Kaua‘i March for Babies coordinator, and all the March of Dimes Board members on doing such a great job with the event. Jim Rosa was on the popcorn machine, Cathy Agoot was busy at the registration table (300 walkers!) and Jan Pascua was doing the Happy Camper stuff.
Shelly Paik was doing the same thing for the KIUC team, and Kaua‘i Mayor Bryan Baptiste was just getting started as he had to balance the March, getting together with Warren Perry at the Prince Kuhio service and hopefully, making it back to visit with Eddie Sarita and the Hanama‘ulu Neighborhood Association and the re-opening of Hanama‘ulu Beach Park.
Mahalo to Kori Sakamoto (her whole family works at Lappert’s) for whipping up the great milkshake that hit the spot after a couple of hours in the sun at the Prince Kuhio Park.
