Today at Hanapepe Salt Ponds from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., talk-story with Kupuna Aunty Janet Kehalekomo and her family at the historical Hawaiian salt ponds, Puolo Point in Hanapepe.
Aunty Janet and family will share their family history and knowledge of salt cultivation on Kaua‘i. The event is open to the public at no charge.
“Salt Making at Hanapepe” is a short film on the ancient Hawaiian art that began in Hanapepe over 1,000 years ago. Guest speakers and salt makers Frank Santos and Kuulei Santos share their knowledge.
