Elizabeth Ann Huseman
Elizabeth Ann Huseman died on March 11, 2008, at her daughter’s home in Kalaheo at the age of 79. Born Jan. 24, 1929, in Shanghai, China, she was a homemaker, school library assistant, and master seamstress and needleworker.
She grew up in China and finished her education at Nardin Academy in Buffalo, N.Y., before joining the U.S. Navy in Norfolk, Va. She met and married Frank W. Huseman and spent 28 years as a military wife, traveling the world and raising her family. After retirement, the couple settled in Lakewood, Colo., where they lived for many years.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, LCDR. Frank W. Huseman Jr., Ret., and son Paul T. Huseman.
She is survived by her son William (Kendra) Huseman of Tennessee; daughters Joan (Richard) Shaw of Kaua‘i and Ann (Kenneth) Duffy of Colorado; and 11 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kauai Hospice. A celebration of her life will be held in Colorado at a later date.
Earl LeLand Waiwaiole
Earl LeLand Waiwaiole of Kapa‘a died on March 10, 2008, at Straub Clinic and Hospital in Honolulu at the age of 58. He was born on October 12, 1949, in Kaua‘i. He is survived by his wife Virginia Waiwaiole; son Elijah Waiwaiole; daughters Sherrice Waiwaiole, Earlette Waiwaiole, Randi Keilii Waiwaiole and Billie Jean Mahina Waiwaiole; brother Ainsley Kaipo (Wendy) Waiwaiole and DeHarn Waiwaiole; sister Tamrae (Fred) Kaholi; and grandson Keanu Dean Kinsell-Waiwaiole.
A celebration of his life will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, at the Lihu‘e Kauai Veterans Center; service begins at 2 p.m.
Mary Ann K. Lindsey
Mary Ann K. Lindsey of Kapa‘a passed away on Friday, March 14, 2008, at her home with her loving family by her side, at the age of 81. Born on Sept. 30, 1926, in Captain Cook, she was employed by Hawaiian Bitumuls and Niu Construction as a dispatcher/weighmaster. Her love was doing scenic oil paintings.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald R. Lindsey.
She is survived by her son William “Boogie” (Lovey) Lindsey of Waimea; daughters Vivian K. Lindsey of Kihei and Linda Ann L. (Samuel) Wong of Kapa‘a; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, at Kapaa First Hawaiian Church. Casual attire is suggested.

Adelaide Vance McLane
Adelaide Vance McLane of Anahola died March 19, 2008, at her home in Anahola at the age of 86. Born Aug. 13, 1921, in Santa Monica, Calif., she was retired.
She is survived by her husband James Henry McLane of Anahola; daughter Diane Lynne (John P.) Hanson of Anahola; son Patrick James McLane of Ko‘olina; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Viewing will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, at Hale Malia (residence); services will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Burial will be at 4 p.m. at St. Catherine’s Church. Aloha attire is suggested.

Tomiko ‘Timmy’ I. Yamashita
Tomiko “Timmy” I. Yamashita of Honolulu died March 14, 2008, at Kaiser Hospital at the age of 86. Born on Jan. 13, 1922, in Kapa‘a, she was a retired school teacher for the Hawaii School for the Deaf and Blind.
She is survived by her brother Harold Itokazu; sons Byrnes, Boyden, Bryan and Barry; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at Waiokeola Congregational Church; service begins at 6 p.m. There will be a private inurnment. Casual attire is suggested and the family requests that flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary.
Thomas Joseph ‘Mick’ Callahan IV
Thomas Joseph “Mick” Callahan IV died on March 16, 2008, at the age of 59. He was born July 1, 1949, in Newport, R.I., and was the proprietor of Callahan Construction Company for over 30 years in Hanalei.
An amazing and loving father and grandfather, a winning coach for the AYSO Hanalei Tsunami soccer team for 10 years and one of the founding members of NaMolokama O‘Hanalei Canoe Club. Mick was a coach for men, women and children and his competitive spirit proved strong in everything he did. He was also an avid waterman to mention a few of his accomplishments.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Liz Callahan of Princeville; daughter Sabrina Ahulani Callahan-Lloyd, son-in-law Jeremy Lloyd and granddaughter Emmalani Victoria (9 years old) of Wainiha; son Thomas Joseph “TJ” Callahan V, daughter-in-law Cheryl and granddaughter Kaia Jade (3 years old) of Huntington Beach, Calif.; sister Patricia Hollinger, brother-in-law Joe and nephew Michael of Sacramento, Calif.; companion Katie Love Curtis and Alex of Kilauea; numerous relatives of San Diego.
He will be greatly missed by Czar, the other two musketeers, his paddling crew, work and business associates and many family and friends whose lives he touched.
A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, at the old Hanalei Canoe Club. Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the Callahan family with arrangements.
