For all Waimea High School girls planning to attend this year’s prom, Waimea High is participating in a “second time around” for girls’ prom dresses. There are dozens of dresses available.
Dresses are available for the girls to view, try on and take. There is a $30 deposit for the dress and when it’s returned, dry-cleaned and in reusable condition, they get the deposit money back. That means the dress is free for them to use for the prom except for the dry-cleaning bill. This is on a first-come, first-served basis.
The cost of prom dresses is sometimes too much to afford and this is a way for the girls to be able to attend prom without the financial burden of a prom dress. Many dresses are brand new with tags still on them and worth a few hundred dollars. Many of the dresses have come from the Mainland and are not found in local stores here on Kaua‘i.
There have been a number of donations generated from the local community and privately.
Waimea High School would like to thank the generous donors for their participation. There will be an ongoing viewing from now until the prom at the end of April. There is always a need for more dresses and if anyone else is interested in donating a dress, contact Judy Cano, PCNC (Parent Community Newtorking Center) at 338-6810 ext. 111.
