The Bantam division team finished with an 8-5 win over the Bulls Sunday, to wrap up a weekend sweep as it earlier took an 8-7 edge over the Devils on Friday evening.
The Bruins, a Squirt division team in the YMCA of Kaua‘i Inline Hockey league, came back with a 4-2 win over the Sharks Sunday, redeeming itself after dropping 8-2 to the blueshirts Friday night.
In the Midget division, the Midget Blue punched out a 10-8 victory Sunday afternoon after battling the Midget Green to a 9-9 tie Friday night in what scorekeeper Penni Taketa described as a really intense game.
Stephanie Steuri, after stumbling multiple times over the hurdles in the Girls 100 Hurdles event at the Mayor’s Invitational Track Meet, rebounded to man the goalbox for the Midget Green to stave off shot after shot by the Midget Blue squad.
She finished with 25 saves on 34 saves in the Friday night contest while the Midget Blue goaltender Greg Balmores finished with 29 saves on 38 shots.
Midget Blue battled tough and held Green scoreless after the first 14 minutes of play to take a 4-3 edge at the half after Pierce Int-Hout tied the contest with a goal at the 2:40 mark on an assist from Matthias Davis. Int-Hout bettered that effort with a solo goal with just five ticks remaining on the clock for the digit lead.
The seesaw battle continued into the second half with Midget Green tying the game 8-8 at the 2:04 mark when Zachary Rodriguez netted a solo goal, his fourth of the game.
Kawai Peahu netted another solo shot with 1:50 remaining for the 9-8 lead, but couldn’t hold the Blue out of the goal as Justin Fujikawa found the net with 58 seconds remaining for the final tie.
Following Rodriguez, Peahu finished with two goals and an assist, Bruce Perdue added a goal and an assist, Jaime Pablo finished with a goal and Trevor McCracken had an assist.
Int-Hout paced the Blue effort with four goals and an assist followed by Keala Davis adding two goals and three assists. Matthias Davis finished with a goal and an assist and Fujikawa finished with a goal and an assist.
Int-Hout paced the Blue Sunday win with a hat trick and an assist along with Lorin Masterson who shared the same figures. Mike Goodnight topped the Blue scoring with a hat trick and three assists.
Jaime Pablo led the Green on Sunday with two goals and two assists followed by Bruce Perdue finishing with two goals and an assist.
Eli Leech-Kritchman paced the Sharks’ Friday night outing with four goals and an assist followed by Victor Sanchez adding two goals. Tomas Sanchez and McKenna Lewis each added a goal in the win.
In the Sunday effort, McKenna Lewis was held scoreless despite showing some nice stickwork in traffic. But Tyler Lewis found the net for two goals for the Sharks.
Chanel Tremblay found the net for one of two Bruin goals Friday with Tyler Lewis adding the second goal.
On Sunday, Chanel took over goaltending duties for the Sharks to finish with 13 saves on 17 shots, and the Bruins were led by Edward Punua Jr. who finished with two goals and an assist. Leighton Cabreira and Isaac Lakotas each netted a goal.
Cascade Mayer had the hot stick for the Todd Mayer Green, finishing with a hat trick and an assist Friday night and then adding two more goals on Sunday afternoon.
Ben Steuri, strong in the middle and up front, finished with a hat trick Friday night and added a goal with two assists on Sunday.
Kawai Peahu added a goal and three assists Friday night and netted a goal and two assists on Sunday.
Sierra Mayer finished Friday with three assists and added a goal on the Sunday win.
Cydney Sitzler paced the Devils on Friday, finishing with four goals and an assist followed by Jacob Lewis adding two goals and two assists in the effort. Lauren Spears finished with a goal for the Devils.
On Sunday, Corey Nemeth finished with four goals and an assist to lead the Bulls who, despite outplaying the TM Green on offense in the first half, could not find the net.
They scored all their goals in the second half, the last one coming from Edward Punua Jr. who also finished with an assist. Lyle Nemeth added an assist in the effort.
Stephanie Steuri tended goal for the TM Green, finishing with 26 saves on 33 shots, and on Sunday, getting 32 saves on 37 shots.
Daniel Alonzo tended the goal for the Devils Friday night with 34 saves on 42 shots.
Matthias Davis handled the goalbox for the Bulls on Sunday with 22 saves on 30 shots.
Taketa said that with the arrival of spring break for the players, the inline hockey league will take the next two weekends off before resuming with playoff games.
