The Kaua‘i adult coed soccer team finished 4-0 to claim the Over 45 division of an adult coed soccer tournament in Kona, recently.
According to a report submitted by Sheryl Barber, the team played four games over a three-day span during the President’s Day weekend.
A solid defensive effort led by Warren Amuro with Lisa Wall, Andy Vea, Kari Schmauch, John Hodges and Ron Kosen kept the ball out of the Kaua‘i half of the field for most of the time, and the ones that got through were handled by Kaua‘i’s starting goalkeeper Gary Green who got relief from Paul Kyno and Dan Barber.
Offensively, Ingrid Nakamura dominated the forward line with strong backup from Olie Rivera, Barber, Kosen, Kyno and Green.
Christian Marston controlled the midfield with assistance from Tammy Fernandez, Chelsea Ornellas and Tracey Rogoff.
Martin Steinhaus filled the coaching slot, but was strapped with limited playing time due to an injury.
Nakamura paced the Kaua‘i scoring with goals also coming from Rivera, Green, Barber, Kosen, Kyno and Marston.
