Andy Irons, former three-time Associated Surfing Professionals World Champion, and Tamaroa McComb, winner of the Komunity Project Trials, were expected to light up Round 2 of the Quiksilver Pro presented by LG, today.
Following a three-day break, the ASP Top 45 will hit the lineup for Round 2 starting at 7:30 a.m.
Saturday marked the opening of the Quiksilver Pro at Buranbah Beach, Australia, but today’s action will have the top surfers in the world battling at the Snapper Rocks site where clean, four-foot waves were predicted.
“The surf today is sitting in the four-foot range out at Snapper Rocks with some really contestable walls rolling through,” said Rod Brooks, the Quiksilver Pro event director in an ASP release. “We’re going to get underway with the men’s Round 2 this morning at 7:30 and we’re looking for an exciting day of competition.”
Other battles in the man-on-man format include matchups of Pancho Sullivan and Julian Wilson, Ricky Basnett and Dane Reynolds, Michael Campbell and Kieren Perrow.
